Welcome to the USS Aeon!

As commanding officer of the USS Aeon, I would like to hearby extend a very warm welcome to your visit. You have stumbled across our humble vessel, a Luna-class vessel, as we prepare to depart on our maiden voyage into the stars.

And yes, although our crew is a tight-nit group of friends, we are always looking for new members to join our ranks. So please, take a look a round, see what you think, read up on our sim and if you want to hop aboard, please do join us!

Hopefully I will see you soon in person!

1) Notices

So I've held off until now to let the Roll Call finish, so we can move forward. Now that's over, it's time we did move forward. Thank you to everyone who has voted in support of staying with the Aeon. I intend to focus my efforts on pushing this story forward into something interesting, and our main mission's story is certainly that.

I'd also like to announce that we are now a leading member of a new site, FutureFleets. This site is primarily a database site that 'serves as a central repository for anyone who owns or is looking for a role-playing simulation, fleet, character, or open position'. Basically a central advertising hub for fleets and Simms.

But in the future, it will also become an online game of some sort. I haven't seen anything regarding the game, so know very little, but it will offer something unique to the Simming world. I'm certainly proud to be placed on the site.

So, onto the rest of this report...

2) Crew Update

So, following the Roll Call, the following crew members have become inactive:

Lieutenant Vanya Hudson-Riley, our CMO
Ensign Liran Elar, our Support Craft Pilot

It's definitely sad to see these two leave us, but if either decides to return they can just pickup the same characters they had before (and the same account).

3) News Flash

Welcome to the Starfleet News Network. I'm your host, Fred Goony.

Since we last looked up the USS Aeon, the Luna-class vessel has departed dock and rendezvoused with the Akira-class USS Sarragut, as they prepare for simulated combat. This will test both crew's as they battle to become the best, and its nice to hear of a battle that isn't threatening life as we know it for a change.

Of course folks, the Aeon is the underdog in this battle, so the odds are against them. That won't stop them giving it their all! We will of course cover the outcome of this battle in my next report.

Until next time on the Starfleet News Network, keeping Starfleet current.

We had just one post in April. Let's see if we can do more this month!

4) Awards & Promotions

Hey all, awards will now be bi-monthly instead of monthly, so the next awards will cover April and May and will come in the May report.

5) Upcoming Month's Goals

So... this month's goal is: focus. Let's stay focussed as we move away from combat and into our first mission. There will be a lot of opportunities for character advancement in the next month, so try and flesh out your characters and really get into them.

Let's do this!

» Pushing the Sim Forward

Posted on Mon Apr 29th, 2013 @ 7:25pm by Captain Estrad Dagan in General News

Hello everyone.

So, as you may have noticed, we haven't had any new posts or any updates to our main story JP for a while. I think we've kinda reached a dead end.

For that, I think two things need to happen.

Firstly, we're going to be interrupted mid-battle by the signal that will lead us to our first real mission adventure. I think continuing the battle would be difficult and it would be best we shake things up by taking us back on track to our original sidetracked adventure.

Secondly, I'm going to open a joint post with the sole purpose of acting as an open roll call. It is very important that you post in this post with your character's name, or your character will be put inactive. Becoming inactive will remove you from the active roster, but you can always rejoin the Simm with your character if you should so wish to in the future.

This is so those who are still interested in continuing without having to go through the battle can post to continue, and those who have lost interest because of our sudden dip can move on.

You have until Sunday to post in this roll call post and then whoever is still with us will have sometime for a little mid-flight character get-together I have planned before we launch into the real storyline and onwards with the story.

Yours,

Captain Estrad Dagan

Just a quick note: the update to the Battlestations post is out. Read it through, check what tags you have and update with your character's actions. Hopefully we can push through this battle quickly and move on with the actual story of the mission, where we get sidetracked from reaching the neutral zone again (the original story of the mission).

1) Notices

Yes! It's the fourth monthly report. As we didn't have very much going in February, this covers both February and March. And what a month March was! We had a doubling of the crew, an vast increase in posts and we're now pushing forward into April on the heels of a simulated battle. What more could you want?

In the past two months, we've managed 11 posts, of which 9 of them were made in March. That's a huge jump and a big difference, and it can't have been made without your efforts and commitment to the Sim.

So I'd like to give a BIG thank you to everyone who joined us this past month, who gave this Sim a chance to give your characters life. And also to everyone on the Sim, both old and new, who helped push the storyline forward and to give the Aeon life. Thank you.

2) Crew Update

This past month we were joined by four new crew members.

  • Ensign Liran Elar as Support Craft Pilot.

  • Lieutenant Vanya Hudson-Riley as Chief Medical Officer.

  • Lieutenant Lucius Gregory Hawke as Chief Security/Tactical Officer.

  • Ensign Marla Kanso as Chief Flight Control Officer.

Welcome aboard one and all :)

3) News Flash

For those of you who are new, and haven't seen the past monthly reports, every month Fred Goony from the Starfleet News Network comes onto your screens to give a summary update of what has been going down on the Sim. This month, however, he has something different...

Welcome to the Starfleet News Network. I'm your host, Fred Goony.

Today we have an exclusive interview from an exciting person related to the USS Aeon, none other then Commodore Bel Moroi! Thank you for joining us, Commodore.

Bel: Of course! Happy to be here.

Fred: So, let's get straight to business as we have limited time here. How exactly did you get into Starfleet?

Bel: Just like the rest of us, I reckon. I applied and passed the entrance exams.

Fred: *laughs* And where did you pull your inspiration from in order to take those exams?

Bel: I had gone through the Vulcan Science Academy, before I applied to Starfleet. I had a bone to pick with my father: we didn't really get along when I was younger. I sure showed him, huh? *grins*

Fred: Indeed! You were the Captain of the Dalton for a while. How did you find that?

Bel: A sturdy and trustworthy vessel, as well as my first command. It'll have a special place in my heart, forever.

Fred: Do you have any experiences of your time on the Dalton you'd like to share?

Bel: Well, a lot of it was classified, considering it was a vessel used for testing prototypes - but I probably shouldn't even be telling you that. I do remember one time we flew into a sun to test some new shielding. Oh, and to hide from Ferengi trying to steal our new goodies.

Fred: Sounds exciting! What is your opinion of the Aeon?

Bel: Another fine ship. I like the Luna-class, it's very advanced. And the quarters are actually quite comfortable - much more so than on a Nova-class, let me tell you.

Fred: Indeed they are. Finally, we're told you are due to take on the position of Fleet Commander at Starbase 244. What's your views on that?

Bel: A rather serious matter, that is. With the collapse of the Romulan Empire, we need to keep a close eye on what's going on in the Neutral Zone. I'll be steering our forces in the sector to do just that.

Fred: The great Bel Moroi everyone! A big thank you to Bel for taking the time out to join us here in the studio.

Catch you all next time on the Starfleet News Network, keeping Starfleet current.

Hope you enjoyed that! For those of you not in the know, our XO led a previous Sim as Captain Bel Moroi, so a lot of that references that past material.

Still, this kind of format is open for the future as a way of giving your character a unique view you might not necessarily be able to show through the Sim. If you'd like your character interviewed by Fred Goony, please contact the Captain... he keeps being bugged for an interview himself so would happily hand it off to someone else :P

4) Awards & Promotions

This month, we have a fair few awards to deliver. So without further ado...

I'd like to award the Meritorious Newcomer of the Month Award to... Ensign Liran Elar, for strong writing and a well developed character! Playing a supporting role on a starship, rather than a departmental head position, can be a difficult job, but Ensign Elar seems to pull it off with ease! Congratulations!

This month's Most Improved Player of the Month Award goes to... Commander Barim Nash, as he has revitalised his role as XO with a new character and a new lease of life, and taken on a lot more responsibilities in managing the Sim. Thank you Commander!

Next is the Crew Choice Award, which is the award that you as a crew get to give each other. This month, the award goes to... Ensign Liran Elar! The crew obviously agrees with us, so congratulations again!

Finally, I'd like to award the Captain's Personal Merit to... Lieutenant Lucius Gregory Hawke, for the post Tactical Tests that he put together with us. It was well written and matched story driven action with good character focus. Well done Lieutenant!

That's it for awards this month, but there will be more next month as we push forward :)

_______________________________________________________________________
5) Upcoming Month's Goals

For April, let's ramp back up and get more posts out there. We've got a simulated battle to get through, which you should all be getting involved with. Once we've passed the battle, we're going to be dropping straight into the main story thread of our mission, so there's lots to look forward to.

Keep up the great work, and thank you for choosing the USS Aeon :-)

Yours,

Captain Estrad Dagan

» Final Call for Award Nominations

Posted on Sat Mar 30th, 2013 @ 12:23am by Captain Estrad Dagan in General News

Hey all,

Firstly, this is my final call for award nominations for the Crew Choice Award. I've only had one nomination so far, so please do submit your nomination if you haven't already and you have a view on who should win this award. The window for this closes midnight GMT tomorrow (just over 24h away from this post).

Secondly, apologies for the delay in moving us forward on the main storyline, I'm in the middle of a couple of weeks of madness with birthday's, Easter with family, more birthday's and an Ice Hockey playoff finale. So it's just finding the time amidst that to keep things going.

I will be posting a relevant single post to the story near the end of tomorrow and then moving the battle scene forward, so look forward to that. And of course, my monthly report (covering two months) will be out on Monday.

Catch you around!

Estrad walked quickly into his ready room, moving behind his desk and activating his monitor in one motion, before sitting down to study it. Tapping a few buttons, he passed a request through the system to activate the non-subspace transmission system, that of radio waves. An older medium than the…

"Incoming communique from the Sarragut," Lyra announced suddenly. "They're ready to begin the combat."

Estrad smiled. They still had five minutes remaining in their allocated half-an-hour slot, so it was good that they had a little time to prepare.

"Very good. Link our systems with theirs,…

It was evening. Or so the ship's chronometer said. Barim noticed he had been having trouble getting used to spacetime again, after a year on Betazed.

He was sitting alone at a time in the forward lounge. It was a quiet evening, though there were several crewmembers enjoying a drink.…

Estrad strode into his ready room. He'd just been called off the bridge by an incoming communique from Captain Kerensky of the Sarragut. To be fair, he'd requested a quick pre-battle chat with her and was pleased to see how soon she'd answered it.

Sitting down at his desk, he…
